Watch Care & Maintenance

Battery

When the battery expires, replaces it with the recommended battery only (see the Operation Manual for your specific watch model). It is advised that you use a Steelmont authorized repairer to ensure your watch is handled properly. Note: If your watch is under warranty, your warranty is voided if the battery is replaced by an unauthorized vendor.

Sunlight

Do not store or leave your watch in direct sunlight to prevent discoloration or deterioration of the watch and leather band.

Shock

Avoid shocks to your watch, including dropping your watch on hard surfaces. This may compromise the precision and functioning of your watch.

Temperature

Avoid extreme temperatures and sudden temperature changes. (See temperature guidelines in the Operation Manual for your specific watch model).

Water Resistance

The water resistance of a watch is not permanent. It is affected by the ageing of gaskets or deformation of watch parts due to use. Following a few simple steps can extend the water resistant property:

  • Always make sure the crown is pushed in completely before using the watch under or near water.
  • Do not use the pushers or crown under or near water.
  • Avoid placing the watch directly under running water. The water pressure from a faucet may cause moisture to enter the inside of the watch.
  • Wipe off moisture (including sweat) and water with a dry, soft cloth as soon as possible and place the watch in a ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not wear the watch while bathing, showering, or using a sauna.

Swimming / Water Activity

If your watch has a leather band, it is highly recommended that you remove your watch before engaging in water related activities. (See leather band care below).

After using a water resistant watch in salt or chlorinated water, gently rinse it in fresh water (but never place the watch directly under running water from a faucet). Immediately dry the watch with a dry, soft cloth and place it in a ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.

Make sure the crown is pushed in all the way while wearing during a water activity and while rinsing.

Crown Care

From time to time, turn the crown to prevent corrosion.

Leather Band Care

Even though the watch is water-resistant, leather bands deteriorate from moisture, sweat, and direct sunlight. If your watch has a leather band, it is recommended to remove the watch before use in or near water. Leather bands can stain (especially light colored straps) so be cautious when working with any form of dyes, ink, paint, colored solutions.

If there is moisture, sweat or dirt on the leather strap, immediately, wipe with a dry, soft cloth.

Cleaning

Gently wipe the watch using a dry, soft cloth. We recommend using a microfiber cloth.
Do not use soap, shampoo, or detergents for cleaning the watch.
Do not expose your watch to any kinds of solvents or chemicals.
